Now a retired public school educator, Patti taught French immersion and Core French programs during her 35 year career as a teacher, languages coordinator, elementary principal and vice principal.
Passionate about students having opportunities to learn and use French, Patti became a member of Canadian Parents for French, with her husband, in 1995 when their first child began French Immersion Kindergarten. Since then, she has been involved in helping with the Concours d’art oratoire for several years a judge and / helper / organizer and her school district French Advisory Council (1995-1998). She has been the Kamloops CPF Chapter secretary (2006-2009) and school principal representative for several years. Patti has been part of the CPF BC & Yukon Board since 2010, Board President since 2013. Patti received her B.Ed. from UBC and M.A. from SFU. Patti’s Master’s research and dissertation was on mentoring beginning French immersion teachers.
Though both of her children have since graduated from French immersion, Patti still knows how important it is to remain a strong supporter of French language learning programs and wishes to continue to be an advocate for motivational and successful French programs for children. She enjoys applying her knowledge and skills to work with CPF BC and Yukon Branch.
