CPF BC & Yukon and its Chapters host a handful of annual core activities for students, for parents, and for members. For more information on each, select the relevant button below.

AGM & Conference

CPF BC & Yukon is going online for this year’s Branch AGM & Conference, due to gathering and travel considerations around COVID-19. Instead of being a weekend-long event of workshops, meetings and networking events, the Branch will instead host a virtual mini conference on Friday, Sept. 18 and an AGM on Sept. 19.

Attendees must register with the Branch. All registrants will receive an email with the Zoom links 48 hours before the events.

Membership Drive

Considering that many of the benefits CPF can offer this year will be online-only, due to gathering restrictions around COVID-19, CPF BC & Yukon is offering free 1-Year Memberships for anyone who joins or renews before March 31, 2021! If your membership was going to expire in 2020, it has been automatically renewed for a full year past its expiration date.

Chapters will receive $10 per new local membership, which can be used to fund community-based socio-cultural opportunities.

Concours Virtuel

Our traditional Concours d’art oratoire was been cancelled for 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. To replace it, we teamed up with partners across Canada to launch a video contest where students shared (en français, bien sûr) how they’re dealing with social distancing.

More than 950 students from across Canada shared how they were keeping up their French and keeping busy while home from school! You can watch many of their submissions on our YouTube Channel too!

FI Celebration Week

Annually, after the first full weekend of February, CPF BC & Yukon and the Province of British Columbia mark French Immersion Celebration Week and a series of events around the province – from concerts and plays to skating days and crêpe lunches.

In 2019, French Immersion Celebration Week marked a full 50 years of the program in B.C. with a special ceremony in Coquitlam, where French Immersion was first introduced to the province in 1968.
