We’re welcoming anyone interested to participate at SFU Surrey as a volunteer for the French public speaking contest- free lunch, training and a thank-you gift provided. Time speeches, greet participants, act as a room host, or help hand out prizes. If you’re a student, a letter of participation will be provided towards your required volunteer hours. Each year, fifteen university students from across Canada are selected to participate in the Senate Page Program. The Senate Pages are responsible for a wide variety of activities associated with the legislative process and are given a direct opportunity to further their knowledge of parliamentary affairs by exposure to the rich tradition of Canada’s Parliamentary system and the Senate of Canada. Senate Pages are enrolled as full-time undergraduate students in one of the four universities in the National Capital Region. They are hired on a one-year contract with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Pages also have the opportunity of remaining for a third year if chosen as Chief or Deputy Chief Page.

The Youth Employment and Orientation Program provides participants with an opportunity to obtain on-the-job training and work experience. In partnership with Service Canada, the Youth Employment and Orientation Program helps the youth, who are between 15 and 30 years old, to acquire skills that enhance their access to the job market in British Columbia. These placements are 80% subsidized by the Youth Employment and Orientation Program. The employer commits to pay a minimum of $40 per week for a total of 24 hours completed by the participant.
