October 2015 Chapter Update: Recent Chapter Happenings

Here are few exciting events that recently took place in CPF chapters in BC/Yukon, and were featured in October 2015’s Chapter Update.

• Tri-Cities Chapter
Organized a successful French summer camp in conjunction with the Francophone Society of Maillardville.

• Williams Lake Chapter
Organized a successful French day camp this past summer for K-Grade 6. Busy with its Back to School Maple Fundraiser featuring Quebec maple products from Sugar Shack in 70 Mile House.

• New Westminster Chapter
This past Labour Day CPF-NW held a French Family Swim for all families and friends in French Immersion in the district, as an end of summer, “welcome back” event at Moody Park Pool.

Coming up on October 15th is CPF-NW’s annual Parent Survival Night. Other chapters are welcome. Please email Stephanie for details: [email protected].

• West Vancouver Chapter
Elementary schools in West Vancouver are registered to participate in the CIVIX Student Vote program using their French curriculum materials. (See below for more info on these fantastic resources!). We will check in after the Federal Election to learn the results!

• Cranbrook/Fernie Chapter
Is in full swing with its membership drive which includes a display and a short talk with the Kindergarten families on the first day of school, as well as having a display and representative at the various schools’ open houses.

• North Vancouver Chapter
New CPF reps at École Argyle Secondary presented CPF and FI information at the school’s Grade 8 Parent meeting on September 23 and hosted a meet and greet in the school library afterwards.

• Oceanside Chapter
On September 27th, CPF Oceanside hosted a “Welcome Back Family Potluck and Membership Sign-Up” at Surfside Beach Resort in Parksville.  New families and familiar faces enjoyed time playing in the sun, munching on a yummy array of treats including French Canadian Pea soup and sweet meringues!

• Nelson Chapter
Welcomed parents and teachers to its Crêpe Night and AGM on September 29 at Trafalgar School.

• Delta Chapter
Is hosting an Open House for all CPF members and non-members on Tuesday, October 6th, 2015, 7:00 pm at Burnsview Secondary, in the library.
