Encounters with Canada Program 2013 -14

This annual one-week program of Canadian studies is held at the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre, in Ottawa. The period of the program extends from early Autumn to late Spring and is intended for youth, aged 14-17. The program is divided into two parts: The first part of the week focuses on Canadian institutions and includes visits to Parliament, the Senate and a guided tour of the National Capital Region. The second part of the week is organized around one of 12 sub-themes: Arts and Culture; Canada Remembers; Canadian Politics; Ecology and Environment; International Affairs; Journalism and Communications; Law; Medicine and Health; Royal Canadian Mounted Police; Science and Technology; Sports and Fitness; and Vimy: Canada’s Coming of Age. The program cost of $675 includes accommodation, all meals, most planned activities, and local transportation. Transportation costs to and from Ottawa are paid by Exchanges Canada, a program of the Ministry of Canadian Heritage.
