Academic Support

One of the top questions we get from parents goes something like this: “How on Earth can I support my child’s language learning, if I don’t even know the language.”

It’s a common worry, but fret not, we’ve got you covered. French immersion has been around for more than 50 years and has seen thousands of bilingual students graduate from unilingual households. The program, its teachers and their resources are crafted to foster that learning at school.

Of course, it’s nice to have help too! That’s why CPF launched a free tutoring program for members in 2020. Find out about that program and other academic support options below.

CPF BC & Yukon Volunteer Tutor Program

Find a tutor

CPF’s free tutoring program is available to all member families, and seeks to support children aged 6-14. The program is run and supported by French-speaking volunteers.

Become a tutor

We are always looking for qualified and energetic volunteers to help us with our tutoring program!

Anyone over 16 can apply to be a tutor with CPF, though those under 18 will need a guardian’s permission. All tutors are vetted through an interview process. We ask that volunteers sign up for a minimum of 1 hour per week.

The program offers senior high school students an opportunity to build their required volunteer hours while helping other students follow in their bilingual footsteps!
