Volunteer Awards

The impacts that devoted educators and passionate volunteers have on language learners cannot be underplayed.

Every year, hundreds of teachers, parents and communities go miles beyond what’s expected of them to encourage, enrich and empower students’ learning across B.C. and Yukon. The least we can do is say Merci.

Know someone who deserves recognition? Be sure to nominate them for the Bouquet de merci!

Nomination periods close annually on May 31st.

Bouquet de Merci Award

Do you know someone whose outstanding activities and achievements have contributed to the health and vibrancy of French programs and activities for children in your community?

The Bouquet de Merci is an award of recognition of the contribution by an individual or an association to the goals of Canadian Parents for French – winners are announced at our AGM. The Board of Directors of CPF BC & Yukon recognizes individuals or associations in BC or the Yukon which have contributed significantly to the following goals of CPF:

  • To assist in ensuring that each young Canadian has the opportunity to acquire as great a knowledge of the French language as he or she is willing to attain.
  • To promote the best possible types of French language learning opportunities.
  • To establish and maintain effective communication between interested parents’ educational and governmental authorities responsible for the provision of French language learning opportunities.
  • To provide educational opportunities for young Canadians to learn and use the French language.

Between March and May every year, CPF BC & Yukon accepts nominations for the Bouquet de merci Award. We only ever hand out two, though there are so many deserving nominees.

Bouquet de Merci recipients will be invited to attend the AGM or other appropriate award presentation event; however, travel, hotel, etc. expenses for the recipient will be the responsibility of the local Chapter.

Know someone who deserves recognition? Be sure to nominate them for the Bouquet de merci! Nomination periods close annually on May 31st.

💐Congratulations to the 2023 BOUQUET DE MERCI award winners💐

Each year, CPF BC & Yukon recognizes an outstanding volunteer. This year we are recognizing two!

As President of the Sooke chapter of CPF, Melissa Da Silva has committed her time to supporting French education in her community, whether through activities for students or advocacy on behalf of families. She has been a volunteer going back several years now, and with children in the French immersion program, Melissa relates to the aspirations and concerns of parents, and does so with kindness and understanding. Her involvement also extends to the school district’s parent advisory committee, with which she has also played a leadership role in recent years.

Christine Carriou is a French Immersion teacher in the Surrey school district, where she is being recognized not only as an educator but also as an advocate for French language. She promotes French in her classroom through games, conversations, field trips, and mentorship opportunities. Mme Carriou also challenges her students to learn about global citizenship and non-profit organizations through fundraising efforts for a number of charities. She has also been a CPF partner for many years going back to her time with the Delta school district.
