That’s a wrap!

Félicitations to all students that participated in Dites-le en vidéo this year! We learned a ton and we’re so proud of what you’ve all accomplished.

  • Canadian Parents for French BC & Yukon is a parent-lead registered non-profit dedicated to creating quality and accessible French second language opportunities for all youth.
  • Dites-le en vidéo is a contest for students across Canada to showcase their French speaking and video making skills.
  • This online competition was first piloted in spring 2020 to offer an alternative event during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many in-person opportunities were cancelled. While most in-person events have now returned, many students told us that they really enjoyed the more casual and accessible virtual format.
  • Between October 16 and November 19, 2023, students from across Canada were invited to submit videos in French on anything from their favourite hobbies to their takes on current events.
  • All Canadian students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 were welcome to participate. Submissions for Kindergarten to Grade 5 were not judged competitively. Submissions for Grades 6-12 were judged by volunteer judges from across Canada.
  • Volunteer judges watched and evaluated students’ Dites-le en vidéo submissions, and selected the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place winners with their judging team according to the Evaluation Rubric.
  • Evaluations were based on French language & video abilities, and judges did not take into account the subject matter. Opinions expressed in the videos are not necessarily those of Canadian Parents for French or its volunteer judges.
